2023 Shows that I went to !!!
- Jan 19, 9:15pm: Alignon Mitra (comedy) at Punchline (+Kellen)
- "Tiktok" comedian I started seeing on IG reelz. Great crowd work! Very heartwarming to see live. I think he was surprised by how many "fans" he had come show up to see him. We took a selfie with him the bkg.
- Feb 14: Vday at Crybaby (+Gauthami & her friends, Saad)
- Random Tuesday night fun! Photo booth ... fun dancing ... deep talks!
- Feb 23: Magic City Hippies, CAPYAC opener at Fillmore (+Marshall, Esther) LAST MIN
- Enjoyed the funky/fun opener!! They threw CELERY and CARROTS into the crowd! ... Had giant eyes as decorations everywhere. Had a dance-off ?! ... Main band needs a stylist/image consultant, haha... Lead singer needed to stop putting his hands behind his head! Ended the night with a drink and more live music at Boom Boom Room :)
- Feb 25: Nora En Pure at Midway (+Kellen, Jen & Vica)
- First time at Midway! Good stuff... :)
- Mar 2: Bon Entendeur at 1015 (+Kellen, Ruchir & Priya & Tiffany, Alex, Marshall, Jen & her friends)
- First time at 1015! SO MUCH FUN!! SO FRENCH!! So much disco. And dancing. Got a pic with the DJs post show. Jen's French friend told us, "we French people wouldn't bother them ;-)" HAHA!
- Mar 17: Amadou & Mariam at SF Jazz (+Gauthami, Kellen, Jess)
- Bought tickets last November & also won free tickets = YAY! Impromptu girls night. Very moving and fun performance!
April must be a record, I saw 7 different shows... 😵
- April 6: Pinback at Fillmore (+Kyle & his buddy Javi, Jasmin) LAST MIN
- Last minute show... indie rock nostalgia. Extremely enjoyable. Successful trip to BOOM BOOM ROOM afterwards to catch LITTY DEBUNGUS... So fun!
- April 7: SG Lewis at Warfield (+Marshall & Justin)
- I have never felt so old. Overheard in coat check before the show even began: "Need janitor at front door, there's vomit on the ground." ... Had fun dancing! Stood on the steps, great view - but then terrible crowd . . . just terrible.
- April 7: City of the Sun at Public Works (+Marshall & Justin, Chava, Tess) LAST MIN
- Realized knew some of their songs! Flamenco inspired indie rock, all instrumental, very cool. Very late show. Tess and I took a nap on the wooden blocks in the back. ZZZzzzzz. This is concerting in our 30s.
- April 13: Overmono at 1015 (+Jasmin, Jeff, Chris, Kellen + other Raptors and DJs from discord)
- School night. UK garage / tech house? Somewhat ambient noise for me but better once I took out my earplugs (earplugs was putting me to sleep). Chris and Jeff FINALLY met for the first time, haha!!!
- April 15: Water From Your Eyes at Eli's High Mile Club (+Jasmin, Abbey, Lauren & Kristen) LAST MIN
- Mesmerizing singer.............. pretty cool to see up-and-coming band...
- April 18: Los Bitchos at The Chapel (+Marshall)
- Hilarious band name. Very short set - only 1 hour. Buzzy hyped band, older crowd. Wasn’t my fave show - visuals were distracting. I was very tired for the show. Did a hiit workout with Faris beforehand, then wine dinner with DT and Duc and Marshall!
- April 26: Tennis at the Fox, opener Loving (+Jill)
- Beautiful as always! ... very throw-back vibes. Opener was romantic sleepy music - would've been better in a smaller venue. ... But I was very tired this show.
- May 10: Babe Rainbow at New Parish (+Jasmin, Gary, Kyle + his friends Andrew, Brooke & Margaret, Alex + her friend Jackie)
- Fun but Kyle thought the band was more sober than usual... First time at New Parish - tiny venue, better if you're TALL or snagged a railing view! Ended the night at Jasmin's for more wine & Jasmin showing us her new skills :) ... Kyle's ready for his b2b future!!!
- May 13: Kevin Saunderson (+Chris, Jasmin) LAST MIN
- Sooooooooo fun to dance all night. Got educated by Chris. Saw an industry legend/icon? One of the co-creators of Techno! He played the afterparty in kind of a weird but historic venue (Tribune restaurant in Oakland). Took a pic for Chris! Chris says: Congratulations Jane for enjoying an entire Detroit techno set! Ended the night with Jamaican at Jasmin's. insert face melt emoji :)
- May 15: First Aid Kit at the Fox (+Jasmin, Ingrid)
- Very nostalgic... spent the entire show with a facial expression that says "I'm about to cry". The sisters harmonies are still amazing. They sang a lot of their old hits.
- June 2: Re:Set at Stanford's Frost Amphitheatre (LCD, Jamie XX) (+Kyle, Gary, Marshall, Jordan and Amanda, Jay and Alejandra and Kush, Richard + Jaicy, Greg and Joe)
- Gorgeous venue and setting in the trees... you could SMELL the nature...... Great sound and lots of space to dance and spread out.......... Amazing cheese plate, LOL. And of course...... so much fun dancing.......... And SO SO SO nostalgic for LCD - I was so happy to see them again. NO regrets for going to the show. I drove down there and parked. Unfortunately the gummy did not wear off fast enough and Marshall had to drive us home, oopsies. :-)
- June 11: DJ Jazzy Jeff: R&B & Ribs on the patio (+Duc & DT, Marcus & his boyz crew: Dion, Matt, Stephen, Andrew)
- So much fun on a SUNDAY. Would definitely go back to this party. Great crowd and vibes. Great music and dancing. We then got the best Vietnamese in the mission: BAC LIEUUUU yayyyyyyyyyyy!! The bestest.
- Aug 25: Tash Sultana at Stanford Frost (+Selin)
- Very relaxing and chill on the grass and mesmerizing to watch such incredible TALENT. Great catch up with Selin.
- Aug 27: Mt Joy at Fox (+Selin 💓)
- I was unfortunately VERY VERY TIRED for this show. Was in a sleepy trance daze. Selin looooooooooooved the show - her current favorite band. I describe it as Stomp Clap Holler with weed references, for the Gen Z set.
- Aug 30: Sylvan Esso at the Greek (+Matt, Ashley, Marshall, Nicole, Esther, Clayton, Chris S, Jasmin)
- Wow - Wednesday spontaneous fun. Some of it was sleepy to build and my eyes were closed - but then it would pick up. Some crazy outfits and dancing.
- Sept 9: Jungle at Bill Graham (+Richard, Jaicy, Meara, Graham, Alex G, Gabi, Adam, Marshall, Weston, Sam, Kyle + buds, Claesine, Faris, Jasmin, Chris, Marcus + buds)
- Too big and loud, I don't like this venue. Got entirely too overwhelmed. Had to go upstairs. Also mistakenly got a red bull and vodka. Not necessary!!! That said - lovely to get a massive group - and a great group pic at end...
Sept 30-Oct 1: Portola (+Kellen, Zach, Jen, Chris+crew, Faris, Alex L, Kyle, Claesine)GOT COVID. DID NOT GO.- Oct 9: Postal Service / Death Cab at the Greek (+Kyle, Jasmin, Brian, Carmen, Vivian)
- Lovely, lovely nostalgia. A Monday night show meant a sluggish crowd. Jasmin got some merch. Hard to not record every Postal Service song!
- Nov 3: Bon Entendeur at 1015 (+Kellen, Zach, Selin, Tess, Jasmin, Max)
- Dancing upstairs is definitely the way to go!
